Preserving Washington's Outdoor Sporting Life

FLY Fishing and WING Shooting

Founded in 1954 in northwest Connecticut, the Washington Rod & Gun Club (WRGC) was formed “in the interest of better hunting and fishing under reasonable controls, and the conservation of our natural resources…”
WRGC’s fishery program involves nine miles of the Shepaug River; three miles through Town and six miles through Steep Rock Association preserves, where WRGC partners with Steep Rock Association toward the common goal of maintaining and protecting Shepaug River watershed biodiversity and ecology. WRGC members access three miles of restricted water while WRGC volunteers participate in river management, conservation and community engagement.
Through the generosity of local farmers, WRGC members carry on the traditions of dog training and upland bird hunting in an organized system.
Washington Rod & Gun Club is an all-volunteer organization.
